Sow Flow

Pilot Study Terms & Parental Consent

DRAFT FOR ATTORNEY REVIEW (updated 2026-10-06). Not yet in effect. Bracketed notes are questions for counsel.

These terms cover the Sow Flow Phase 1 pilot study (the “Founding 50”), run by Sow Flow Solutions, LLC (“Sow Flow,” “we”). By checking the box at checkout, you agree to them. Questions? Email [email protected].

1. What the study is

We want to learn whether kids ages 4–12 like brushing with Sow Flow toothpaste tablets, keep using them, and whether families would buy them again. The study lasts about one month (31 days) and includes up to 50 children.

2. What taking part involves

  • Your child uses the tablets we send (one jar, a one-month supply) in place of, or alongside, their usual toothpaste.
  • You, the parent or guardian, complete a short intake form before we ship (age, allergies, and how brushing goes today).
  • You log brushing in our study app with a 10-second check-in each evening, and answer one short question each week.
  • At the end, we’ll invite you to a short exit interview (about 10 minutes) about how it went.

Taking part is voluntary. You can stop at any time by emailing us; see section 7 for refunds.

3. Parental consent and supervision

By enrolling a child, you confirm that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian, that the child is between 4 and 12 years old, and that you agree to their participation. You agree to:

  • Review the ingredient list before use. The tablets contain sunflower oil and xylitol, among other ingredients. Don’t enroll a child with a known allergy or sensitivity to any ingredient.
  • Supervise brushing, especially for younger children. Tablets are chewed, then brushed and spat out; they are not candy and should not be swallowed in quantity.
  • Store tablets out of reach of young children and pets. Xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • Stop use and contact us if your child has irritation, an allergic reaction, or any other concern, and contact your child’s doctor or dentist as needed.

The tablets are a cosmetic toothpaste. This study is not medical or dental treatment and doesn’t replace regular dental care. [Counsel: confirm product-claims and assumption-of-risk language for Louisiana.]

4. Information we collect

We collect information from parents, not directly from children:

  • Your name, email, shipping address, and (optionally) mobile number.
  • Your child’s first name or nickname, age, allergies, and current brushing habits.
  • Your daily check-ins, weekly answers, and exit-interview responses.

Children don’t use the study app or enter any information themselves; every answer comes from a parent or guardian. [Counsel: confirm no COPPA obligations apply when only parents report about their child.]

5. How we use and protect it

  • We use it only to run this study, ship your jar, contact you about the study, and decide what we make next.
  • We may share study results publicly or with investors only in combined, de-identified form (for example, “70% of kids preferred…”). We never publish your child’s name or your contact details.
  • We never sell your information. We may use de-identified or aggregated data, which cannot reasonably identify you, for business and research purposes, including in connection with any future business transaction. Service providers that help us run the study (our store and payment processor, our study app’s database, and our email and text providers) process it on our behalf.
  • We keep personal information (names, email, phone, shipping address, and your child’s first name) for 12 months after the study ends, then delete it.
  • We keep the study answers themselves without anything that identifies your family (de-identified data), and may use those statistics indefinitely for research and product decisions.
  • You can ask us to delete your family’s personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. [Counsel: confirm de-identified data can be retained after a deletion request.]

6. Texts and emails

We’ll email you about your order and the study. If you opt in to texts, we’ll text only important study updates, such as your ship date (a few messages, never daily reminders); message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP to opt out at any time. Texts aren’t required to take part.

7. Start date, deadline, and refunds

  • The study starts once all 50 spots are claimed, or on November 1, 2026, whichever comes first. We’ll email your ship date.
  • If at least 30 children are enrolled by November 1, the study starts with everyone enrolled. If fewer, you can choose a full refund or keep your spot until it starts.
  • You can cancel for a full refund any time before your jar ships. Once your jar ships it’s yours to keep, and the spot is not refundable (except under the November 1 rule above).
  • Price: $19.99 per spot plus applicable sales tax, with U.S. shipping included.

8. Sponsorships

A sponsorship is a purchase from Sow Flow Solutions, LLC that funds one child’s spot (a one-month supply, delivery, and study tracking) for a family who applies for a free spot. Sponsorships are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible. Sponsors receive study updates and results by email but no information about the family they sponsor. If the study doesn’t start, sponsors get the same choice of a full refund or keeping the sponsorship until it does.

9. Founding 50 perks

  • Dispenser: study families and sponsors get first access to the Sow Flow dispenser when it launches, at 10% off.
  • Subscription: families who complete the study (31 days of daily check-ins and the exit interview) get 10% off their first 4-month subscription.

The dispenser’s timing, design, and availability are not guaranteed. [Counsel: discount terms, e.g. one per family, expiration date, and how “complete” is measured if a family misses a few days.]

10. The legal bits
